Honiton

The town of Honiton is known for its lace – in the seventeenth century it was sought after by dressmakers in London. The town has a mile-long high street with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, and every Tuesday and Saturday the town has a street market with all sorts of local produce and crafts for sale. Honiton also has a town museum, sports centre and golf club, and is home to Red Mango School of Sailing. Annual events include Honiton Festival, Honiton Show, the Hill Rally and a Carnival. There are beaches nearby, at Sidmouth, Seaton, Beer and Branscombe.
