Blue Beach Bar and Brasserie, Porthtowan

Set right beside the beach, the original beach-side bar (having been established in 1999) at Porthtowan is popular with all sorts of people from surfers through walkers, to families. <pub grub> The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and friendly, whilst the staff manage to remain efficient and hard-working. The decor mirrors the coastal location with powder-blue walls, wicker chairs, wooden flooring and plants. All accompanied by big screens displaying mesmerising footage of local and professional surfers in the water. If you are lucky enough to grab a seat in one of the huge bay windows, make sure to observe the breathtaking view whilst in the comfortable surroundings; watch the sun set or the surfers carving up the waves with a fresh coffee or glass of wine. There is also seating outside which is perfect for enjoying a meal or drinks with friends on warm summer evenings. The food champions local, seasonal produce from 10am-9pm everyday and the daily specials board is unmissable. Although this is a traditional bar, it has managed to remain in keeping with the times: Meat-free Mondays now features on the Specials Board, there is a Children's Menu available and the coffee is all organic and fair-trade. It is possible to dine on an eclectic mix of international dishes such as Nachos, curries and Mezze platters as well as indulge in popular classics like fish 'n' chips followed by a chocolate brownie. The bar often has live music and supports local bands, so if you're there for dinner you can make an evening out of your visit.
