With unsurpassed views from the Roseland across Gerrans Bay, individually decorated rooms and renowned spa and leisure facilities, the Nare Hotel is perhaps the iconic, luxury hotel experience in the region. When I dropped in recently on an unplanned visit with my family, I was delighted to find the Quarterdeck restaurant busy but able to accommodate our hungry group. We even managed to grab a table by a window where we were able to marvel at one of the best views in the county. So before the food had even been ordered we were pretty happy with our lot. I am glad to say that when our lunch arrived, (served by the most attentive waiter), we were not disappointed. Our 'light' lunch was very enjoyable and reasonably priced considering the standard of our surroundings. Two of us enjoyed a small steak and the others decided on some locally caught fish, all terribly well presented and tasty. Pudding was also good, some kind of chocolate souffle and home made ice cream. We noticed a good mix in clientele, including coast path walkers, business folk and families; the atmosphere was just right. So, a very pleasant visit and I am sure that we will be back, maybe as hotel guests so that we can enjoy some fine dining in the evening but we will definitely be popping in soon for an afternoon cream tea! -NP- <fine dining> <seafood>
