The China Clay Country Park

The China Clay Country Park is set in the grounds of two former working china clay pits and provides an insight into how china clay was mined and what it was used for. The park houses many artefacts and documents related to the china clay industry, including machinery, geological specimens and film archives. The Visitor Centre has a range of interactive displays and you can even take a virtual drive to the bottom of a chine clay pit. Outside, there is a commando-style assault course for children and a Nature Trail. Cafe Wheal Martyn serves freshly prepared meals, and in the summer, barbecues. There are also plenty of picnic areas and a gift shop. The park is open throughout the year except over Christmas and New Year, and dogs are welcome on leads.
