Portscatho to Carne beach (4 miles - medium difficulty)

Parking can be found above Porthcurnick beach at Portscatho. Once you have parked, walk to the left, following signs for the beach. The path will take you through three gates and down on to the beach. Walk right across the beach and continue on to the road. Not long after joining the road you will need to go through a gate to the right, passing a sign for the National Trust's Pednvadan. The path continues on up to the disused coastguard's lookout and past a bench. Go through another gate and over a stile, heading towards the beach. After climbing another three stiles, walk down on to Porthbean beach. A short distance along the beach, you will find a path leading away from the beach; take this, and when the path forks, take the right hand path. Further on, ignore the path to the left and climb the stile. Cross the field diagonally, ending at a footbridge. Once across the bridge, continue on up to another field, climbing another stile. The path now runs alongside another beach, and on to a further bridge and stile. At the small Round House hill, take the path to the right and continue on around Creek Stephen Point and on to a field. Climb a further stile to leave the field and follow the path along Treluggan Cliff, owned by the National Trust. The path then continues along the cliff towards Pendower House Hotel. Follow the path to the rear of the hotel and on to the road. The footpath sign will lead you to the right, through the car park and down to the hotel. Cross the bridge and continue up the dune towards the Nare Hotel. When you meet the road, follow the sign for Carne. You will need to climb a further stile and then, at the tennis courts, bear left, going up the steps and over another stile. This will take you up behind the Nare Hotel, from where you can follow the road down to Carne beach.
