Basset's Cove to Portreath (1.5 miles - medium to difficult)

Park your car at the Tehidy Country Park car park on the B3301, which runs along the coast. Cross the road to get to the cliff top and the start of your journey. The path begins to the right as you face the sea, where you will need to climb a stile. Shortly, the path will take you down some steps into a valley. Continue walking through the valley and go up the steps on the other side to leave the valley. The path continues on to a second, quite steep valley, known as Carvannel Downs. Cross the bridge over the stream at the bottom of the valley and climb up the steps to leave the valley. After leaving the valley you will pass through a kissing gate. You will now be very close to the cliff edge so take great care. You should now be able to see Gull Rock just off the coast at Portreath beach. Keep following the path down into Portreath, either via Western Hill, or by taking the inland route, through another kissing gate and down onto Portreath beach.
