Mevagissey to Trenarren (4 miles - steep in parts)

Park your car in the car park at Mevagissey and then walk down into the harbour. At the harbour, turn left towards the museum and join the footpath. Continue up the steps to the Trevalsa Court Hotel and follow the path on to the cliff above Polstreath beach. Climb the stile and follow the path down to the bottom of the field. Cross the bridge and then bear left up some steps. Walk on towards Penare Point. Cross a stile into another field and follow the path down the right hand side of the field. Climb a further stile in the hedge and then climb down the steps. Go through a gap in the next hedge - you will now be just above Portgiskey Cove. You will come to another stile and then a further two bridges. This is followed by a steep climb and then another two stiles. You will need to join the road and then turn right into Pentewan. At Pentewan, head towards the harbour passing the Ship Inn. Just after the cottages, you will see a path to the left, taking you up some steps to the main path behind the cottages. The path now becomes quite steep for a while, taking you up to Polrudden Cliffs. Climb over a stile and follow the path onwards down into a valley. Go though the valley and then up on to, and over, The Vans cliff (this part of the walk is steep). Cross the bridge and continue on up the path. You will come to some steep steps taking you down into the woods. Cross another bridge over a stream, then another very small stream. Follow signs for the path to the left, which then takes you right. You will now be above Hallane beach. Take the steps and go over the two stiles and follow the path as it takes you past a memorial stone. Now follow the path to the left, towards Trenarren. Where the path forks, take the path to the right and climb the steps. You will pass a sign for Ropehaven Cliffs Nature Reserve - now follow the path on to meet another path. Here, turn right so that you are walking downhill. You will pass a cottage in the woods; here, bear left up a lane. Where the lane widens, turn right, passing Trenarren House. When you reach a small car park, keep following the route as signed to Trenarren.
