The Lost Gardens of Heligan, near St Austell

The Heligan Estate has been in the Tremayne family for over 400 years, but the gardens became somewhat neglected during the twentieth century. It was decided, after the terrible storms of 1990, to restore the gardens to their former beauty - restoration which has won the gardens awards and made them internationally acclaimed. Heligan's Horsemoor Hide is a fantastic place to observe the garden's wildlife, and children will love exploring the 'Jungle' with its bamboo tunnels, ferns and giant rhubarb. The gardens are open every day excepting Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
