Portscatho

Portscatho is a former pilchard-fishing village about 5 miles from St Mawes. Portscatho has remained relatively unchanged over the years and still retains its old traditional charm. The village has a small sandy beach and a harbour. The cove is very sheltered and is therefore ideal for safe bathing. A red sea mine stands above the harbour and is used to collect money for charity. Beside this sea mine is a memorial to those killed in the Burma war, who have no known resting place. There is one pub, the Plume of Feathers, which is owned by St Austell Brewery. There is also a butchers, a grocers and several galleries and gift shops.
