Launceston, just off the A30 in southeast Cornwall, is known as the Gateway to Cornwall. Launceston, a traditional market town, sits on the Cornwall/Devon border between Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, making it ideally located for those wanting to explore both Cornwall and Devon. The town has a broad range of shops, including specialist local produce shops and unique gift shops. Every Friday, St Mary’s Hall hosts an indoor market, where local food, plants and craftwork can be bought. Local attractions include Launceston Steam Railway, Trethorne Leisure Park and Hidden Valley Discovery Park. Launceston also a town trail and a castle, from where spectacular views of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor can be enjoyed. Each Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend, the town hosts its Annual Steam and Vintage Rally, and the Launceston and District Agricultural Show takes place each July.
