Tiverton

Tiverton, situated on the River Exe, is the largest town in mid Devon. The town has a good range of pubs, cafes and restaurants, catering for all tastes and budgets. Tiverton Museum details the history of the town, and has recently acquired a horse-drawn fire engine from nearby Silverton. The town’s Grand Western Canal Country Park is popular with walkers and has an abundance of wildlife – and there are also provisions for boating and fishing. Just north of Tiverton lies Exmoor National Park – Exmoor is truly beautiful and offers ample opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding. Also worth a visit is Tiverton Castle, which was built in 1106 by Richard de Redvars on the orders of King Henry I.
